The village Nerkhi which is located next to Mount Krkur is famous for its mulberry trees, grapes and other types of fruit. In 1912, through the efforts of the United Association of Armenians, people built a school in Nerkhi as well. This village is also known for its “Khool” (Deaf) Springs, which is a place of pilgrimage for the villagers. People suffering from earache always visited this place. They bathed in the spring, made a sacrifice, prayed and left the sacred place filled with hope that soon they would be cured.

Nerkhi was also known for its brave people. Probably the most outstanding person among them is Father Mirak Norigian whose acts of heroism were much talked about in the eighteen-nineties even before his ordination as a priest. Father Norigian was also a Vicar of the Prelacy and worked, for a time, as the dean of Arghni Monastery.
